We have two important pieces of news to share with everyone.
Most exciting news first, from our Procurator, Dan Hinz:
We received our much-anticipated reply from the Dicastery regarding our Suspension Appeal. By calendar, the reply was due within 90 days of our submitting it. The 90-day mark by calendar was June 28, 2025. The letter from the Dicastery is dated July 1, 2025. Per the response, the Dicastery acknowledges that our petition has been legitimately presented within the peremptory time limits to the correct Dicastery and that the curial Institution ACCEPTS it for examination. The letter goes on to say that our requested suspension of extinctive merger is GRANTED, for the duration of the recourse.
Congratulations to you all - this wouldn't have been possible without your hard work and dedication to St. John's. We now await their response to our Revocation Appeal, which has a due date for response of July 23, 2025.
Thanks so much for all you have done, and continue to do for St. John's.
Please continue to pray that our efforts will succeed.
Secondly, some more information about an alternative donation option. Information sheets were/will be available after masses on the weekends of July 12-13 and July 19-20. All parishioners and non-parishioners are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Everyone is invited to attend an informational meeting regarding an option we are exploring regarding Mass collections. As many of you know, the bankruptcy assessment (or "contribution" as the Diocese likes to call it) was announced recently. The amount was based on unrestricted cash. An option to restrict our donations, be they in the weekly collection, direct deposit or otherwise, will be presented at the meeting. Restricting our donations means they would be for use in our parish only, shielding them from access by the Diocese without our approval. There are three meeting dates in order to reach as many parishioners as possible. You only need to attend one of the meetings, as all meetings will have identical content. The meetings will be held:
July 21, 2025 - Pulaski Club - 6pm
July 23, 2025 - Pulaski Club - 6pm
July 28, 2025 - Pulaski Club - 6pm
If you have any questions, please contact Dan Hinz at dhinz52@gmail.com or 716-307-1440 or use the Contact Us from on the Main Page (linked below).
Please share this meeting invitation with others. We want full transparency and access to information for everyone involved.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support.
God Bless You!
